A biophotonic micro-laboratory:
Novel applications of all-optically controlled micro-fluidic lab-on-a-chip devices

The goal of this project is to develop optical tools for parallel manipulation of objects in microfluidic devices. Optical trapping of objects will be performed with multiple-beam optical manipulators using spatial light modulators. In addition to the optical control via a microscope, we also aim to integrate planar micro-lens systems in a microfluidic system.

Duration: 36 months starting 1 January 2004
